Moving Made Easy

When you move, are you worried about changing your hydro, natural gas, driving licence, health card, phone, tv and internet? Perhaps you remember that in some cases there are legal requirements involved? So starting with mobile, Wi-Fi, phone and internet the steps are:

Bell Services

- Go to

- Into the Search field type the word “moving”

- Click on the links that apply to you in particular

- At each link you may fill in the information on the internet site or call the phone number that is supplied.


- Call the Moves Concierge Center, 1-877-696-6839

- They will assign you an agent who will assist you in all stages of moving from one     location to another

- Choose those services that you want to keep or to modify.

Canada Post

- Go to

- Scroll down to the Managing Mail section and click on Mail Forwarding.

- Find the section, “Getting ready to move?”

- Follow the steps.

Driver’s Licence, Health Card

- By law you are required to update as follows:

- From the time your address changes your driver’s licence and permit within 6 days

   And your health card within 30 days.

- A simple way to update all three is to go to a ServiceOntario Centre.

- To find the closest center go to and search for “ServiceOntario                 locations, hours and contact.

Water Utilities – if metered

- Call 311

- Press the number for the option, “Tax and Utility”

- With the representative arrange for a final meter reading on the closing date of your home.

- A final meter reading fee of $16.14 will be added to your final bill.

- A new account, if required, will be set-up when the ownership information from       your lawyer comes to the city.

Natural Gas

- Go to this website,

- Click on the extra-large size link “Moving”

- Follow the steps.

Toronto Hydro

- Go to

- Click on the tab “For Home”

- In the sidebar click on, “Are you moving?”

- If you need to register, you will need your Hydro bill to do this

- If you already have an account you will need your User ID and password.
